This Batik Flower Granny Square was designed for the 2015 CWU & AC Group Mystery Blanket CAL. This square can be used for other projects as well. Enjoy!
I have never really been a huge fan of “granny squares” until this past year. The more I saw pretty granny squares ~ not the “traditional granny squares” but I really like how this one turned out.

Batik Flower Granny Square 6 inches

Yarn: Lion Brand Heartland #4, 100% Acrylic – I used: Shenandoah, Redwood & Sequoia
Crochet Hook: H/8 (5.00mm)
Gauge: Not important

Hdc = Half Double Crochet
Sc = Single Crochet
Sk = Skip
Sl St = Slip Stitch
St/Sts = Stitch/Stitches
Dc = Double Crochet
Tr = Treble Crochet
Instructions
Using Yarn A, Ch 4, sl st in first ch to join.
Round 1: Ch 3 (counts as tr), work 11 tr into ring, sl st in top of the beginning Ch 3 (12 tr)
Round 2: Ch 3 (counts as first dc and ch 1), *dc in next st, ch 1* repeat around, sl st to the 2nd chain of beginning Ch 3.
Round 3: Sl st into Ch 1sp, ch 2, dc in same ch-sp, 1 dc in next st, *2 dc in next ch-sp, 1 dc in next st* repeat around, sl st in top of the beginning ch 2. (36 dc) Fasten Off
Round 4: Join Yarn B. Ch 1 (does not count as st), dc in same st, * ch 6, sk next 5sts, dc in next st, ch 3, sk 2 sts, dc in next st * repeat from * to * around, sl st in top of first dc. (4 ch-6 sp, 4 ch-3 sp)
Round 5: Ch1, in first ch 6 sp (sc, hdc, dc, tr, ch 2, tr, dc, hdc, sc), 4 hdc in next ch 3 sp, * (sc in ch 6 sp, hdc, dc, tr, ch 2, tr, dc, hdc, sc) in ch 6 sp, 4 hdc in next ch 3 sp* Repeat from * around, sl st to top of beginning ch 1. Fasten Off
Round 6: Join Yarn A to any Ch 2 sp, ch 1(does not count as st), * (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in ch 2 sp, dc in each st till next ch 2 sp * Repeat from * around, sl st to top of beginning ch 2.
Round 7: Ch 1, dc in same sp as join, dc in next st, * (2 hdc, ch 2, 2 hdc) in ch 2 sp, dc in each st across till next ch 2 sp * Repeat from * around, sl st to top of beginning ch 1.
Fasten Off and weave in ends.
