This Crazy Berry Mini Purse is great for a toddler up to a 7 or 8-year-old. I designed this purse to grow with your child. Make it in any color to match her outfit or in her favorite colors. This fun mini purse will also dress up any little girl’s outfit. It also makes a great item for a bazaar or craft show.

Level of Difficulty – Beginner/Intermediate
Yarn – Sugar’n Cream Cotton, Blueberry #4, 100% Cotton, 4.0 ozs/113 grams, Approx 200 yards/184 m (Color A) approximately 100 yards used, and Green (not sure what the color name is) (Color B) approximately 20 yards used.
Hook and Notions – Size Hook: I (5.5 mm), scissors, yarn & sewing needle, sewing thread and 4 buttons (3/4-inch) Measurement – Purse: 8-inches wide, 7 ½-inches tall (after sewed together)
Strap: 2 ¾-inches wide, 23-inches long
Gauge – 4 hdc & 3 rows = 1 ½- inches
Abbreviations
Hdc = half double crochet
Sc = single crochet
Bst = berry stitch
FHDC = foundation half double crochet
Special Stitch
Berry Stitch (Bst): insert hook in indicated hdc, draw up a loop, leaving loop on hook, chain 3, draw yarn through both loops on hook. Berry Stitch made.
Notes
When working strap – Chain 1 at beginning of rows does count as a stitch throughout pattern.
Instructions
Using Blueberry FHDC 45. Turn
Row 1: Chain 1, sc in same stitch, * work Bst in next stitch, sc in next hdc; repeat from * across. Turn (23sc, 22 Bst = total 45 sts)
Row 2: Chain 2, hdc in each sc across. Turn
Rows 3-4: Repeat Row 2.
Row 5: Repeat Row 1
Rows 6-8: Repeat Row 2
Row 9: Repeat Row 1
Rows 10-12: Repeat Row 2
Row 13: Repeat Row 1
Rows 14-16: Repeat Row 2
Fasten off leaving long enough tail for sewing.
Fold item inside out. Using the mattress stitch sew the two ends together, continuing across the bottom.
Strap Instructions
With green yarn
FHDC 8. Turn
Row 1: Chain 1 (see notes), hdc in same stitch as chain 1, hdc in each hdc across. Turn (8 hdc)
Rows 2-50: Repeat Row 1 (or until desired length)
Fasten off and weave in ends.
Attaching strap to purse
You will need four buttons (your color choice)
With purse, inside out center the strap at 4-inches. Sew one button at 3-inches and the second one at 5-inches. Repeat on the other side. Button through the strap between any two hdc. This allows the strap to be adjustable.
