I used a K crochet hook to chain
You can either sew the ends together to make a cowl or leave it as a scarf.
Chain 1 at beginning of each row does not count unless otherwise stated.

Special Stitches
Herringbone Double Crochet – yarn over, insert hook in indicated stitch, yarn over, draw up a loop and through first loop on hook (2 loops on hook), yarn over and draw through 1 loop, yarn over and draw through both loops.

Instructions

Working with Color A, Chain 30 (Use K crochet hook)
Foundation Row (RS) (PART ONE):
Sc in 2nd chain from hook, *chain 1, skip next chain, sc in next chain,* repeat from *to* across. Turn (?? sts)

Row 1: Chain 1, sc in 1st sc, *sc in next chain 1 space, chain 1, skip next sc,* repeat from *to* across, ending with sc in next chain 1 space, sc in last sc. Turn (16 sc, 13 ch 1 sps)

Row 2: Chain 1, sc in 1st sc, *chain 1, skip next sc, sc in next chain 1 space,* repeat from *to* across, ending with chain 1, skip next sc, sc in last sc. Turn (15 sc, 14 ch 1 sps)

Rows 3-30:
Repeat Rows 1 and 2 Fasten off Color A and attach Color B

Row 31: Chain 1, blo hdc in same stitch, *dc in chain 1 space below, blo hdc in sc,* repeat from *to* across, ending with blo hdc in last sc. Turn (15 blo hdc, 14 dc)

Row 32: Chain 1, flo dc in same stitch, *Flo hdc in next dc, Flo dc in Blo hdc,* repeat across, ending with blo dc in last Blo dc. Turn (15 Flo dc, 14 Flo hdc)

Row 33: Chain 1, Blo hdc in same stitch, *Blo dc in Flo hdc, Blo hdc in Flo dc,* repeat from *to* across, ending with Blo hdc in last Flo dc. Turn (?? sts)

Rows 34-41: Repeat Rows 32 and 22.

Row 42: Chain 1, sc in same stitch and in each stitch across. Turn (29 sc) Fasten off Color B and attach Color A
