Welcome Everyone! Today we are going to learn how to Half Double Crochet Between Stitches. This technique gives a nice clean look to your project. As well as helps fill in the gaps that can easily be created depending on the stitches used. It is easy to work up and as an added bonus this technique works perfectly with bulky yarn. Crochet With Mistie! ~ Half Double Crochet Between Stitches
For this stitch technique I chose to use an H (5mm) hook, and I (5.5mm) hook, Cascade Ultra Pima Cotton. This yarn is a #3 light weight 100% cotton yarn. It’s one of my go to yarns when working on stitch tutorials. I also love using it for scarves and items for the home.
Using a hook size up from that the pattern or yarn label calls for – I used my I hook

Size Hook: H (5mm) & I (5.5mm), scissors, stitch markers and blunt needle
Abbreviations
Ch/chs = chain/chains
Hdc = half double crochet

Half Double Crochet Between Stitches
Chain 17
Row 1: Hdc in the 2nd chain from the hook and in each chain across. Turn (16 hdc)
Row 2: Chain 2, *hdc in between the next 2 hdc on the previous row,* repeat from *to* across, ending with 1 hdc in the begging chain 2. Turn (16 hdc)
OR
you can work 2 hdc in that last space between the previous stitches. (this is my preferred method as it tends to fill in more of that open space.
