Difficulty – Beginner/Intermediate
Yarn – Caron Simply Soft #4 worsted weight, 6 oz/170.1 g/315 yds/288 m, used approximately 150 to 200 yds of Neon Pink
Materials- Size Hook: H (5.0mm), Yarn Needle, Stitch Markers or Pins
Size – 8″ W, 8″ L (excluding the strap which is customizable)
Gauge – Not important for this project
Abbreviations
BLO = back loop only
Ch = chain
Dc = double crochet
dc = half double crochet
Sc = single crochet
Tr/Trc = treble/triple crochet
Special Stitches:
Reverse Single Crochet aka Crab Stitch – (NOTE: This stitch is distinctive; it looks ridged and makes a nice finishing option for crochet items. It looks great when worked as an edging using a contrasting or coordinating color. This is worked from left to right as opposed to right to left.) With right side of project facing you Chain 1, * insert hook into next stitch to right, yarn over and pull through, (2 loops on hook), yarn over and pull through both loops. * Continue working * to * until you have reached the end of project. Slip stitch into first chain 1 and fasten off, weave in ends.
Notes – Chain 1 at beginning of rounds do not count as a stitch

Magic ring (chain 4; join with a slip stitch)
Round 1: Chain 1,
work 12 dc into ring;
join with a slip stitch in top of 1st dc. (12 dc)
Round 2: (Working in BLO) Chain 1,
work 2 dc in same stitch as join and in each stitch around;
join with a slip stitch in top of 1st dc. (24 dc)
Round 3: Chain 1,
work 2 tr in same stitch as join and in each stitch around;
join with a slip stitch in top of 1st trc. (48 tr)
Round 4: Chain 1,
work 2 tr in same stitch as join,
* tr in next 2 stitches, work 2 tr in next stitch, *
repeat from * to * around;
join with a slip stitch in top of 1st tr. (64 tr)
Round 5: Chain 1,
sc in same stitch as join,
hdc in next stitch, dc in next stitch,
tr in next 5 stitches, dc in next 8 stitches,
hdc in next 8 stitches, sc in next 6 stitches,
work (hdc, dc, tr, dc, hdc) in next stitch to form point,
sc in next 6 stitches, hdc in next 8 stitches,
dc in next 8 stitches, tr in next 5 stitches,
dc in next stitch, hdc in next stitch,
sc in next stitch; join with a slip stitch in 1st sc. (68 sts)
Round 6: Chain 1, hdc in same stitch as join,
dc in next stitch, work 2 tr in next 5 stitches,
dc in next 10 stitches, hdc in next 14 stitches,
work (dc, 2 tr, dc) to form point, hdc in next 14 stitches,
dc in next 10 stitches, work 2 tr in next 5 stitches,
hdc in last stitch; join with a slip stitch to beginning hdc. (80 sts)
Fasten off and weave in ends. (Do Not Fasten Off on the 2nd Heart)
Assembly of Purse
- Place wrong sides of the hearts together and match center point and heart curves.
- Count over 10 stitches from the center dip and place a stitch marker on each side (this will be the opening for the purse).
- With heart facing attach yarn to marker on the left side.
- Matching stitches work the crab stitch in each stitch around to the other marker. Working only through one heart continue across the top to other marker, place one stitch in the join and continue working around the other top of heart, join with a slip stitch in top of first crab stitch.
- DO NOT Fasten off
Strap
Row 1: Chain 1 (does not count as a stitch),
hdc in same stitch, hdc in center join,
hdc in next stitch. Turn
Row 2: Chain 1 (does not count as a stitch),
hdc in same stitch, hdc next 2 stitches. Turn
Rows 3–32: Repeat Row 2
NOTE: You can make the strap longer or shorter.
Finishing: Slip stitch into the center 3 stitches on the opposite side of the hearts to attach the strap. Fasten off and weave in ends.

Fasten off and secure, be sure to leave a long tail on one heart for sewing together.
