Abbreviations

Ch = chain

Sc = single crochet

Hdc = half double crochet

Dc = double crochet

Dc cl = double crochet cluster

Fpdc – front post double crochet

SL ST = slip stitch

Special Stitches

Front Post Double Crochet (Fpdc):  Front post stitches are raised crochet stitches on the surface of the fabric facing you.  You will need a row of stitches to work around to start the FP stitch.

  1. A post stitch is shorter than a normal stitch, you make the turning chain with one chain stitch less than the normal turning chain requires.
  2. Yarn over (yo) and insert your hook from front to back between the posts of the first and second double crochet of the row below. (The hook should now be positioned horizontally behind the double crochet that you’re working around.)
  3. Yarn over and draw the yarn around the post of the stitch. You now have 3 loops on the hook.
  4. Yarn over and draw the yarn through the 2 loops on the hook, twice. One front post double crochet (FP dc) is complete.

 Notes

Chain 1 at beginning of round does not counts as a stitch unless otherwise stated.
