The Smores Tote bag is full of texture and is great for year around use. I enjoy creating totes or market bags to use when I’m at the farmers market or shopping at my local yarn store! One of the things I love about this bag is I can wash it whenever it gets dirty.

This crochet tote bag would also make a nice gift for a friend. 😀
A crochet tote bag is a great alternative to a plastic bag to hold your shopping treasures. You can use them as many times as you would like. Make this crochet market bag in your favorite color.

I enjoy using cotton yarn when making these mini bags. I find it to be sturdy, durable, easy to wash and they last for a long time.

- Weigh your yarn cake: ________ grams
- Worked in the round
- 720 yards total. #4 100% cotton Bernat Handicrafter in Warm Brown 400 yards and Sand Dune 320 yards
- I used the stitch marker at the beginning of each round to help hold my place.
- You may have to adjust your hook size depending on your tension. Rule of thumb: always check your gauge.
- The bag measures 17” wide x 15” tall,
- Chain 1 at beginning of round does not count unless otherwise stated.
Special Stitches
Back Post Double Crochet (BPDC): Back post stitches are recessed crochet stitches on the surface of the fabric facing you. You will need a row of stitches to work around to start the BP stitch. A post stitch is shorter than a normal stitch, you make the turning chain with one chain stitch less than the normal turning chain requires.
- Yarn over (yo) and insert your hook from back to front between the posts of the first and second double crochet of the row below. (The hook should now be positioned horizontally behind the double crochet that you’re working around.)
- Yarn over and draw the yarn around the post of the stitch. You now have 3 loops on the hook.
- Yarn over and draw the yarn through the 2 loops on the hook, twice. One back post double crochet (BP dc) is complete.
-
Front Post Double Crochet (FPDC): Front post stitches are raised crochet stitches on the surface of the fabric facing you. You will need a row of stitches to work around to start the FP stitch. A post stitch is shorter than a normal stitch, you make the turning chain with one chain stitch less than the normal turning chain requires.
- Yarn over (yarn over) and insert your hook from front to back between the posts of the first and second double crochet of the row below. (The hook should now be positioned horizontally behind the double crochet that you’re working around.)
- Yarn over and draw the yarn around the post of the stitch. You now have 3 loops on the hook.
- Yarn over and draw the yarn through the 2 loops on the hook, twice. One front post double crochet (FPdc) is complete.
