Abbreviations
- Ch – Chain
- Sc – Single Crochet
- Dc – Double Crochet
- FPdc – Front Post Double Crochet
Special Stitches
- Front Post Double Crochet (FPdc): Yarn over, insert hook from front to back to front around post [vertical bar] of specified stitch and draw up a loop; (yarn over and draw through 2 loops) twice: FPdc made.
Pattern Notes
- The join between squares counts as 1 ST – so when working the pattern, you will need to work an SC or DC into the join. The final row stitch count must be 101 (16 x 6 + 5 = 101)
Instructions
Attaching Chocolate in first single crochet of previous row
Note: Work beginning chain with color A.
Row 1: (Wrong Side ~ With color A) CH 1, sc in next 5 stitches, * ch 1, skip next stitch, sc in each of the next 3 stitches; repeat from * across. (101 sts)
Rows 2: CH 1, sc in each sc and slip stitch in each ch 1 space across. (101 sts)
Fasten Off; change color B
Row 3: CH 1, sc in first 5 sc, * dc in next ch 1 space on Row 1, sc in each of the next 3 sc; repeat from * across. (101 sts)
Row 4: CH 1, sc in each st across. (101 sts)
Fasten Off; change color A
Row 5: Ch 1, sc in each sc across. (101 sts)
Row 6: CH 1, sc in each of first 3 sc, * FPdc around next dc 3 rows below, sc in each of next 3 sts, repeat from * across. (101 sts)
Row 7: CH 1, sc in each st across. (101 sts)
Fasten Off; change color B
Row 8: CH 1, sc in each of the first 3 sc, * FPdc around next dc 2 rows below, sc in each of the next 3 sc; repeat from * across. (101 sts)
Row 9: CH 1, sc in each st across. (101 sts)
Fasten Off; change color A
Row 10: CH 1, sc in each st across. (101 sts)
Row 11: CH 2 (counts as a dc), dc in each stitch across.
Fasten off.
Edging
Attach Tan in any corner space
Row 1: Chain 2 (counts as hdc), work (hdc, ch 2, 2 hdc) in the corner space, * hdc in each stitch and 2 hdc in the ends across one side, work (2 hdc, ch 2, 2 hdc) in the next corner, hdc in each stitch across, work (2 hdc, ch 2, 2 hdc) in the corner space, * repeat from * to *; join with a slip stitch in top of chain 2.
Fasten off; Attach Chocolate in corner space
Row 2: Chain 2 (counts as hdc), work (hdc, ch 2, 2 hdc) in the corner space, * hdc in each hdc across to corner, work (2 hdc, ch 2, 2 hdc) in the corner space, * repeat from * to * three times; join with a slip stitch in top of chain 2.
Fasten off; Attach Evergreen in corner space
Row 3: Repeat Row 2
