Level of Difficulty – Beginner

Yarn –  Universal Yarn Inc. Cotton Supreme Batik, Juicy Apple; Roughly 75 yards

Hook and Notions – Size Hook: H (5.0mm), Scissors, Blunt Needle

Measurement – Laying flat 8-inches wide, 9 ½ -inches tall (from the bottom to the peak)

Gauge – 1 pattern + 2 rows = 2-inches

Abbreviations

Ch = chain

Dc = double crochet

Sc = single crochet

Notes – Chain multiple of 8 + 2.

Chain 3 counts as dc at beginning of row unless otherwise stated.

Chain 4 counts as a dc, chain 1 here and throughout unless otherwise stated.

Instructions

Chain 34

Foundation Row (RS): Sc in the second chain from hook, * skip the next 3 chains, work (4 dc, chain 1, 4 dc) in the next chain, skip the next 3 chains, sc in the next chain, repeat from * across. Turn

Row 1 (WS): Chain 3 (see pattern notes), dc in the first sc, * chain 5, work (dc, chain 1, dc) in the next sc, repeat from * across, ending with work 2 dc in the last sc. Turn

Row 2: Chain 4 (see pattern notes), work 4 dc in the first dc, * working over the chain 5 of the previous row, sc in the next chain 1 space 2 rows below, work (4 dc, chain 1, 4 dc) in the next chain 1 space, repeat from the * across, ending with work (4 dc, chain 1, dc) in the top of the turning chain 3 Turn

Row 3: Chain 1, sc in the first dc, chain 2, skip the next 4 dc, * work (dc, chain 1, dc) in the next sc, chain 5, skip the next 4 dc, skip the next chain 1 space, skip the next 4 dc, repeat from the * across, ending with sc in the third chain of the turning chain. Turn

Row 4: Chain 1, sc in the first sc, * work (4 dc, chain 1, 4 dc) in the next chain 1 space, skip the next 4 dc, working over the chain 5 of the previous row, sc in the next chain 1 space, 2 rows below, repeat from * across, ending with sc in the last sc. Turn

Rows 5-21: Repeat Rows 1-4
