WIP Wednesday: The Finish Line Is in Sight
Happy Wednesday, friend! Welcome back to WIP Wednesday — your weekly behind-the-scenes look at what’s currently on my hook. If you were here last week, you already know about these two baby blankets I’ve been pouring my heart into. This week I have a real progress update to share, and I am really excited about it.
What Is WIP Wednesday?
Every Wednesday I share whatever crochet projects are currently in progress in my craft room — no finished glamour shots, just honest behind-the-scenes updates on the yarns I’m loving and the stories behind why I’m making what I’m making. It’s one of my favorite things to share, because crochet is so much more than the finished piece.
Where We Left Off
Last week I introduced two baby blankets in progress — the Stitched With Love Baby Blanket from my Stitched With Love Collection, and the Petals of Hope Baby Blanket, the first pattern in my brand new Garden Grace Collection. Both are being made with so much love and both are coming to the shop once they’re finished and tested.
This week? Things are getting exciting.
This Week’s Crochet Works in Progress
1. Stitched With Love Baby Blanket
Stitched With Love Collection · Coming soon to the shop
This blanket has had my full attention this week, and I am so close to the finish line I can almost feel it. I’m in the decrease rows now — for those who may not be familiar with C2C construction, this is the second half of the blanket where it starts getting smaller after hitting the widest point. Every row brings me closer, and I have to say, it is really hard to put down.
Now, being totally honest with you — I’m playing a little yarn chicken over here. When I bought the yarn I got all they had, which was four skeins, and I’m just now attaching that fourth skein. I think I’ll have enough to finish, but the jury is still very much out! If you’re a crocheter you know exactly the feeling I’m talking about. Fingers crossed! 🤞
This blanket comes in two versions — one worked in Hobby Lobby I Love This Yarn (worsted weight #4) and one in Hobby Lobby Baby Bee (DK weight #3) — so there will be an option for every maker once it hits the shop.

2. Petals of Hope Baby Blanket
Garden Grace Collection · Coming soon to the shop
I honestly feel a little bad that I haven’t given this one any attention lately — I’m sure it feels neglected! My priority has been to finish the Stitched With Love blanket, but if things go according to plan, I’m hoping to pick the Petals of Hope blanket back up later this week.
Those hexagons are just sitting there looking beautiful, and I cannot wait to get back to them. Next week’s WIP Wednesday update should have some good news on this one too.

Why I Design Baby Blanket Patterns
Baby blankets hold a special place in my heart — they were one of the first things I ever crocheted after my grandmother taught me at 15, and they’ve been part of my design work ever since. There is something about crocheting for a new little life — or designing something you know is going to end up wrapped around someone precious — that just fills you up in the best way.
Both of these patterns are being designed with you in mind too. Once they’re finished and fully tested, they’ll be available in the American Crochet shop, ready for you to make for the little ones in your life.
The finish line is in sight, and I honestly cannot put this blanket down. And if all goes according to plan, the Petals of Hope blanket is about to get some long overdue hook time this week too — so next Wednesday I should have updates on both! Stay tuned. 🩷
I’ll keep sharing updates as they come together, so make sure you’re following along! And if you’re looking for your next project in the meantime, the shop has plenty of patterns ready and waiting for you.

Until next Wednesday — Happy Crocheting, friends.
