Chocolate Chip Cookie Potholder

REQUIREMENTS

Level of Difficulty

• Beginner/Intermediate

Yarn

• Bernat Cotton, in colors Off White (color A) approximately 100 yds and Chocolate (color B) approximately 25 yds.
• #4 worsted weight Lily Sugar n Cream in colors Jute, and Warm Brown, approximately 25 yds.

Hook and Notions

• Hook: H (5mm)
• Fairfield 100% Cotton Batting – small amount
• Sewing thread and needle

Measurement

• 8 Inches across

Gauge

• Round 5, 9 stitches + 4 rows = 2-inches

Abbreviations

• CA = color A
• CB = color B
• Ch/chs = chain/chains
• Hdc = half double crochet
• Sl st = slip stitch
• Sp/sps = space/spaces
• St/sts = stitch/stitches

Notes

• Ch 1 at beginning of rounds does not count as stitch

Chocolate Chip Cookie Potholder Instructions

Plain Cookie, Make 2:
With CA chain 3, join in 1^st chain with a slip stitch to form ring.
Round 1: Chain 1 (see notes), work 10 hdc in the ring; join with a slip stitch in top of first hdc (10 hdc)
Round 2: Chain 1 (see notes), work 2 hdc in the same stitch as join, hdc in the next stitch, * work 2 hdc in the next stitch, hdc in the next stitch, * repeat from * to * around; join with a slip stitch in the top of first hdc (15 hdc)
Rounds 3–6: Repeat Round 2 (Round 3–24 hdc, Round 4–36 hdc, Round 5–54 hdc, Round 6–81 hdc)
Round 7: Chain 1 (see notes), work 2 hdc in the same stitch as join, hdc in the next 2 stitches, * work 2 hdc in the next stitch, hdc in the next 2 stitches, * repeat from * to * around; join with a slip stitch in top of first hdc (108 hdc)
Round 8: Chain 1 (see notes), hdc in the same stitch as join and in each stitch around; join with a slip stitch in top of first hdc. (108 hdc)

Chocolate Chips
I made embroidery French Knots randomly placed throughout the cookie.

Batting
Cut 2 8-inch circles. Lay one cookie facing down then place both eight inch circles on that cookie.

Assembling Your Potholder

• Sew the both 8-inch circles to the inside of the cookie (go only through the inside loop of the cookie).
• Once that is done, place the other cookie on top of the 8-inch circles (with chocolate chips facing up).
• Mattress stitch them together.
