Easy Fall Shawl Crochet Pattern

Abbreviations

  • Ch – Chain
  • Dc –Double Crochet
  • Fpdc – Front Post Double Crochet

Special Technique

  • Adjustable-Ring Method – Wrap yarn into a ring, ensuring that the tail falls behind the working yarn. Hold ring firmly between middle finger and thumb. Insert hook through center of ring, yarn over (with working yarn) and draw up a loop. Work stitches of first round in the ring, working over both strands (the tail and ring). After first round of stitches are worked, pull gently, but securely on tail to tighten ring.

  • Chain 3 counts as a dc unless otherwise stated

Easy Fall Shawl Crochet Pattern Instructions – Part 1

Make an adjustable ring or Chain 4; join with a slip stitch in first chain to form a ring.

Row 1 (right side): Chain 3 (see notes), work 3 dc in ring, chain 2 (forms center), work 4 dc in ring. (8dc and 1ch-2 space) Turn

Row 2: Chain 3, work 2 dc in first stitch, dc in next 3 stitches, work (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in center, dc in next 3 stitches, work 3 dc in top of chain 3. (16 dc and 1 ch-2 space) Turn

Round 3: (working in back loops only) Chain 3, work 2 dc in first stitch, dc in next 7 stitches, work (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in center, dc in next 7 stitches, work 3 dc in top of chain 3. (24 dc and 1 ch-2 space)

Fasten Off; change color – Claret

Row 4: Chain 3, work 2 dc in first stitch, (alternate between working in back and front loops) dc in next 11 stitches, work (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in center, (alternate between working in back and front loops) dc in next 11 stitches, work 3 dc in top of chain 3. (32 dc and 1 ch-2 space)

Fasten Off; change color – White

Row 5: Chain 3, work 2 dc in first stitch, dc in next 15 stitches, work (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in center, dc in next 15 stithces, 3 dc in top of chain 3. (40 dc and 1 ch-2 space) Turn

Fasten Off; change color – Corn Meal

Row 6: Chain 3, work 2 dc in first stitch, fpdc in next 19 stitches, work (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in center, fpdc in next 19 stitches, work 3 dc in top of chain 3. (48 dc and 1 ch-2 space) Turn
